Flying rules to know

Being under 250 g removes some paperwork in some places, but not all of it. A quick summary for common regions:

United States

FAA

Recreational pilots must pass the free TRUST test. With the 249 g standard battery and recreational use, registration is not required. With the 291 g high-capacity battery, or for any commercial use, you must register and follow Remote ID rules.

European Union

EASA

With the standard battery the A1 is a C0 drone; with the high-capacity battery it is C1 and needs the online A1/A3 training. In both cases a drone with a camera requires operator registration with your national aviation authority.

United Kingdom

CAA

Camera drones weighing 100 g or more need a Flyer ID and an Operator ID, so the A1 needs both whichever battery you use.

Everywhere

Common sense rules

Keep the drone in sight or have a spotter while wearing goggles, stay below 120 m, avoid airports and crowds, and respect people's privacy.

Good fit if you want

  • An immersive, goggle-based way to fly that is approachable for beginners.
  • A light drone that is easy to carry on trips.
  • A complete kit with goggles and controller in the box.

Think twice if you need

  • To fly from a phone. The A1 is flown with the goggles and Grip controller.
  • Flat video above 4K. Reframed exports are limited to 4K.
  • A drone for strong wind or indoor flying. It is light, and it is not designed for indoor use.
